Vitamin K2 Can Keep Your Bones and Heart Healthy

Did you know that one in three women and one in five men will suffer a bone fracture caused by osteoporosis in their lifetime? In fact, eighty percent of all fractures in people over fifty are caused by this bone weakening disease.

Osteoporosis basically makes your bones to lose density and strength. This in turn leaves you extremely vulnerable to bone fractures, particularly in your hips, shoulders, wrists, and spine.

You might argue that if you take care of yourself and take extra precautions, you can cope with this disease. You’d be wrong. Once a fracture happens, your quality of life is greatly diminished. Be it from reduced mobility, loss of independence, and even some corporeal disfigurement caused by fractions.

On the other side, you have your heart.

Cardiovascular diseases affect both your heart and blood vessels. The most common incarnations are heart failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, and coronary heart disease.

When these diseases have flare-ups they are particularly terrifying. Recovering from some episodes can be a daunting enterprise because most patients are left weakened and afraid that any stress will exacerbate their condition.

It’s little wonder that they’re still the leading cause of death worldwide.

The common treatment to prevent and recover from these cardiovascular diseases is usually to change your diet, increase your workouts, and stop smoking.

But did you know that both these ailments have one common factor?

They’re both characteristics of severe vitamin K deficiency. Or to be precise, vitamin K2. On the other hand, vitamin K1 has shown no discernable results.

So what can vitamin K2 do for you?

It Helps Keep Your Cardiovascular System Healthy

Vitamin K2 helps activate (or carboxylate to use the precise term) the matrix gla protein. This protein is absolutely vital for keeping your arteries healthy because it helps prevent the calcium buildup in them. This in turn helps prevent hardened arteries.

Additionally, if the matrix gla protein stays inactive in your circulatory system it gradually builds up. Studies show that this build up is directly proportional to the likelihood of developing cardiovascular complications.

As I’ve said before: a healthy intake of vitamin K2 is strongly associated with reduced risk of heart disease. Vitamin K1 appears less useful.

Vitamin K2 Can Build Stronger Bones

Osteoblasts are the bone building cells in your body because they have the ability to produce protein called osteocalcin. Osteocalcin needs to be carbolyxated (or biologically activated) in order to serve as the glue to bind calcium to your bone tissue matrix.

Vitamin K2 works in tandem with osteoblasts to help activate the osteocalcin proteins. By doing this, your skeletal system will get the necessary calcium delivered to your bones.

Finally, studies show that patients with osteoporosis who increased their vitamin K2 intake were able to prevent future fracture. Although their bone density was still worrying, their bone strength was stronger.

So, vitamin K2 can help your bones and cardiovascular system, but how can you incorporate it naturally into your diet?

Where to Find Vitamin K2

Although you can naturally produce vitamin K2 in your liver and your intestinal bacteria you can find a natural source of it in organic egg yolks and organic dairy.

If you’re looking to help prevent these diseases or fortify your skeletal and cardiovascular systems, modifying your diet is the perfect natural way to achieve this.
