So now that you’ve got (or are soon going to get) hot, cracked, dry skin what are you going to do? You’ll probably walk down to the nearest pharmacy or your favorite overpriced spa or beauty products store to buy some long list of industrial ingredients to apply to your hurting skin.
Love Your Skin
Did you know that your skin absorbs most of what is applied to it? And when absorbed, these manufactured fragrances, creams, and chemicals can get into your bloodstream.
Your skin is aching for something natural. Your wallet is aching for something long-lasting and inexpensive. Your brain is aching for something simple. Well, you’re in luck – this super simple exfoliating scrub has only 3 ingredients and works wonders on your skin.
Super Simple Salt Scrub
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of natural organic coconut oil.
- 1 cup epsom salts
- 15-20 drops of essential oils
The essential oils you use in your scrub is up to you. Mix your own batch of favorite smells like lavender, geranium, and frankincense. Or perhaps a patchouli and rose oil mixture, for dry, aging skin and a more unique fragrance.
You will also need:
- a jar
A Mason Jar would be perfect. You need something that will close airtight so the scrub keeps as long as it should.
Steps:
- Slightly melt the coconut oil in a small bowl. Sometimes the oil is slightly hard in the jar and needs to be softened a little.
- Add the Epsom salts to the oil and stir.
- Now add the essential oils. You can add 15 drops of the same oil, or mix things up. As previously mentioned, you can find your favorite combination by just playing around with the essential oils you use. Each has different health benefits, so consult the A-Z list of essential oils here.
- Put your scrub in your jar and you’re set! Consider labeling it: come up with a fun name, like Lemon Lavender Squeeze, or Rosemary Baby Oil.
Now you and your skin are ready to combat the heat. Use the scrub every morning. Use it as a fix, or a preventative measure. Start now and get smooth, lovely smelling, healthy skin. Use it post-bath to refresh your skin and gain the benefits from the oils in your scrub.
The original post for this exfoliating scrub mentioned using these jars because they’re plastic, so if it falls from the side of the tub, you won’t lose all your scrub!
Enjoy the scrub, and tell your skin to enjoy the weather!
If you love your homemade scrub, try homemade deodorants too! You use the same essential oils and get the same essential benefits!
Now get out there and enjoy the sun.
