How the Food You Eat Affects Your Brain

brain foods

brain foodsOur diet has a direct impact on our brain’s strength, health, and functionality. Some foods affect our brains right away, while other foods affect it in the long term. Every food should be consumed in moderation in order to achieve optimum brain function.

There are some foods that are excellent for our brains that act as fuel and promote better functionality and power, but there are also foods that weaken and put stress on your brain.

What Food Can Do For Your Brain

The next meal you have can either make your brain more resilient and strong, or make it extremely vulnerable and weak. So, make sure you put thought into your breakfast, lunch and dinner!

As of now, we approach mental conditions such as anxiety and depression with medication, when the real treatment lies in our everyday diet. When we eat processed foods with high sugar content, GMOs and other unnatural toxins, our brains become malnourished, inflamed and small. Food can actually make your brain grow, while medication only temporarily solves a way larger problem caused by malnutrition.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in America right now… how many of these people would be given some relief if their diets were improved and their brains were nourished? We’ll never know until medical practitioners push diet as a legitimate treatment and therapy for mild anxiety and depression.

On a short-term scale, there are foods that can affect your mood and day-to-day performance as well! Try eating one of these foods once a day!

– Dark chocolate (90%)
– Organic free range eggs
– Bananas
– Turmeric
– Blueberries
– Salmon

These foods have the nutrients to boost your brain function and give you the energy to not only get through the day but to have a successful, happy day.

Around 2 billion people on earth are iron deficient and if they weren’t, it is estimated that our global IQ would increase by 13 points. Nutrients and healthy diets translate directly into smarter brains…smarter humans… ergo a smarter planet

The strength of our brain is entirely in our hands because the food we eat is 100% our choice.

Don’t waste your time counting calories, just ensure that the things you eat have the correct nutrients! Such as the nutrients listed below:

Nutrients For Brain Power

– Zinc (75% of Americans don’t get enough)
– Magnesium (65% of Americans don’t eat enough)
– Omega 3 fatty acids
– Curcumin
– Phytonutrients

Most importantly, ensure that you eat ALL nutrients… eat all vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. Brain strength lies in having a balanced diet, and you must keep that in mind during every meal that you make!

Food that Damages Your Brain

– Foods with refined sugars
– Processed meats
– Caffeine
– GMO foods
– Soy

Learning about food as brain power is important in maintaining a healthy, active memory in your youth, and as you grow older!
