Dear Reader: These are extraordinary times we’re living in, and while we’ve always got an eye toward health and wellness, sometimes self-care and wellness looks a little different. As our needs shift, self-care might look like an over-the-top carpet picnic in the living room, or sweet treats that aren’t normally a part of your diet. We believe that sometimes it’s OK to forego the status quo, and that’s why the Pandemic Pantry series includes some “yummy but maybe not for every day” recipes for you to try. Enjoy!
You knew it wouldn’t take long! All these resourceful yet bored people, stuck at home with the munchies. Of course they’d look at something like Dalgona coffee and have a field day with all the possibilities.
In case you missed it, the Dalgona coffee trend is sweeping our nation as the latest and greatest way to make fancy coffee at home. It involves just a few ingredients that most people are likely to have on hand, is easy and fun to make, and on top of it all it looks really cool. Social media exploded with videos and photos of these pretty drinks.
Soon folks started adding their own spin on the recipe, changing up the method or adding extra ingredients. The non-coffee drinkers wanted their own special something too, and soon the gift that is whipped strawberry milk would become ours.
Behold: Whipped Strawberry Milk
It is as delicious as it is easy to make, and it’s pink too. What’s not to love? So, how do you make it? It’s so easy. You’ll need: 1 tbsp of Strawberry Nesquik and 4 tbsp (1/4 cup) of heavy whipping cream. Mix it until your arm is about to fall off (or use an electric mixer!) and serve the frothy pink cloud of creamy sweetness over your favorite kind of milk. You choose the milk, and whether it’s hot or cold… no matter how you make your whipped strawberry milk, it’s bound to be delicious!
In fact, there are many different combinations you can use to create something similar. Try Chocolate Nesquik powdered drink mix, or Hershey’s powdered chocolate in place of the strawberry Nesquik. What about matcha? Sounds delicious, actually. There are so many different kinds of milk that you could use, there are dozens of ways to riff on the original Dalgona coffee.
