Pink Reveals Positive Test after She and Her Son Started Showing Symptoms Two Weeks ago

Pink and Son Recover from Coronavirus

Musical artist Pink took to Twitter to share that she and her son had recovered from COVID-19. After both testing positive for the virus, they stayed in isolation for two weeks. Both have now tested negative for COVID-19. (1)

The tweets, which Pink wrote on Friday, April 3, 2020, chronicle the experience that she and her three-year-old son, Jameson, had with COVID-19. She said that she and her family were already sheltering at home when she and Jameson started to show symptoms. Pink and her husband, motocross star Carey Hart, also have an eight-year-old daughter named Willow. The family lives in Los Angeles. (1, 2, 3)

Pink and Jameson were able to get access to the tests, which are scarce in the United States, through their primary care physician. They tested positive for COVID-19 and isolated for two weeks. A few days before sharing her tweets, Pink and Jameson both tested negative for the virus. (1, 2)

Pink Criticizes Lack of COVID-19 Tests

After sharing her experience with coronavirus, Pink criticized the government for the lack of accessibility to testing. “It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible,” she wrote. (2)

She highlighted how dangerous COVID-19 is and that it can affect anyone. “This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor,” Pink tweeted, “and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends, and our communities.” (2)

Donating $1 Million

The singer-songwriter said on Twitter that she planned to donate one million dollars for coronavirus relief. Half of the money will go to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pink has a personal connection to the hospital. In her tweet, she said that her mother, Judy Moore, worked in its Cardiomyopathy and Transplant Center for 18 years. (1)

Pink will donate the other $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund. According to its website, this fund provides support for families and small businesses, relief for healthcare workers, critical healthcare equipment, and services for unhoused Angelenos. (2, 4)

The novel coronavirus has spread rapidly throughout California. And Los Angeles County has been hit especially hard. The county has the highest concentration of cases in the state. As of April 2, Los Angeles had reported 4,605 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 93 deaths. California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, has put the entire state under a stay at home order. (5)

Pink went on to thank the healthcare workers who are working during the COVID-19 crisis. “THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes!” the musical artist tweeted. (2)

Pink finished her tweets by reminding her followers to socially isolate in order to stop the spread of the virus. She wrote, “These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home. Please. Stay. Home.” (2)
