Prepare yourself for cuteness overload – these photos of a teeny tiny owl using a mushroom as an umbrella will absolutely melt your heart and brighten your day!
Ugh, I just have so mushroom in my heart for this little owl. I mean, holy shiitake – look at his precious face! What a hoot. I’m talon you, my heart could explode from cuteness. I love owl of these pictures way too much!
Meet Poldi The Owl
Poldi the owl is one of Tanja Brandt’s pets, and he is absolutely adorable. He is currently 1.5 years old. Brandt got him when he was only 5 months old. Brandt states that he was the last of 7 owls to hatch, and he barely wanted to crack out of his egg – but finally, he emerged into the world. He was much, much tinier than his 6 older sisters. To this day, he remains to be a tiny and delicate lil cutie.
Brandt’s Other Photogenic Pets
Brandt is a lover of animals. Besides Poldi, she also has a Harris Hawk named Phönix, a Weissgesichtseule named Gandalf, a snow owl named Uschi, and a Malinois shepherd named Ingo – who she likes to photograph regularly.
“I’ve always loved animals, since I was a baby, unlike the rest of my family. When I was little, I found every sort of pet and then hid it from my parents. I love the beauty, power, loyalty, courage, and friendship of animals. Many people could learn from them.” (1)
Owl And Dog: Best Friends
I never thought an owl and a dog could be best friends, but Poldi and Ingo demonstrate otherwise. The unlikely friendship is truly a beautiful thing. Since Poldi is so small, he is very vulnerable to everything around him – and Ingo has gladly taken on the role of being Poldi’s protector.
“They respect each other and they can read each other.” Brandt states. “[Poldi the owl] doesn’t know how to live free” (2) Thankfully, Poldi certainly knows how to live alongside his true companion Ingo – and together they have a wonderful life.
Morel of the story: owls and dogs really can be best friends furrever.
Tanya Brandt Photography
Tanja Brandt is a German photographer who is very passionate about photographing animals and wildlife. She also loves to photograph her many pets, whether solo or interacting together.
“I think my animals like to be photographed. Why? Because I am always outside with my camera and with my animals. So we get to walk together, have fun, go on adventures, have little breaks… We take some pictures and after the animals can play again as we keep going. I know my animals very well and I can see their state of mind. If I go out with just one of my animals, the other gets antsy and wants to be with us. We have a lot of fun together.” (1)
If you enjoyed these photographs, I would highly encourage you to take a look at Brandt’s website. I promise that your heart will continue to explode from all of the cuteness – mine sure did!
