DIY Revitalizing, All-Natural Facial Toner

toner

The skin-cleansing aisle at the drugstore is a little bit overwhelming to say the least. I hate being manipulated and deceived by seemingly fresh, all-natural products that contain harmful toxins and chemicals.

Your skin would probably be more resilient and fresh if it wasn’t exposed to harmful products that pretend to be the answer to all your skin dilemmas!

This is exactly why I steer clear of these aisles and stick to homemade, all natural skin toners instead!

The next time you have a bad breakout, an uneven complexion, or oil buildup, try this homemade, organic peppermint and honey toner!

Recipe for natural facial toner

– 1 tablespoon raw, organic (local if possible) honey
– 1/3 cup warm purified water
– ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
– 5 drops peppermint oil or lavender oil

Honey – This delicious natural wonder is an excellent exfoliant because it contains acids that will eliminate dead skin cells and promote the development of new, healthy cells. Honey can also increase elasticity, which can make your skin appear more firm and healthy.

Apple Cider Vinegar – This is an essential ingredient in this facial cleanser because it regulates your pH balance. An uneven pH balance can cause breakouts and an uneven complexion. Apple cider vinegar will also help make your skin smoother!

Peppermint – Mint, in oil form, will aid in hydrating dry and dull skin. Peppermint can also reduce inflammation, which is great when you’re battling a red, angry breakout.

Lavender – Lavender oil is an anti-inflammatory and also an antibacterial, so it is great for ridding your skin of the bacteria that may be causing your breakouts.

What’s great about making your own skin products is that you get to customize everything! If you find that one ingredient is not doing much for your skin and another is a miracle worker, simply try out the new alternative. The beauty of this recipe is that it can continually adapt to your needs.

I bet your local drug store doesn’t offer that service!

How to make your natural facial cleanser

First, heat your water at a low temperature and gradually add your honey. Once the honey is added, stir continuously until the honey is completely absorbed.

Then add your apple cider vinegar and your preferred essential oils and continue to stir.

And that’s all there is to it!

Once your mixture is a nice consistent texture, pour it into a reusable, re-sealable, glass jar. Now whenever you need a quick face pick-me-up, you have one that is completely natural and guilt-free!

Unlike using products from the drugstore, with this toner, you know EXACTLY what is going on your face because well… you made this product!

When I use this toner I usually soak a cotton ball or cotton pad and apply it to the trouble areas on my face. For me, that’s along my hairline and on my jawline, but it differs from person to person! And you don’t have to wait until you see a breakout to use this toner; it’s so gentle that you can use it every day to prevent future breakouts too!
