Meet Lilith, The Pig Who Fell From The Sky

I’ve mentioned before I believe little miracles occur every day. And what could be smaller or more miraculous than a tiny piglet named Lilith that apparently fell from the sky? While most little piggies go to market, have roast beef, or choose to stay home, this little piggy took to the skies although it appears it wasn’t by choice. (1)

Lilith The Pig From The Sky

According to the piglet’s adopted mom, Molly McGrath a couple found the tiny piglet on a dirt road in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Unable to find her home, the couple immediately rushed the tiny animal to the local vet. (1)

Lilith is a miniature pig, although the vet could not identify the specific breed. While the whereabouts of her origins remain a mystery, the McGraths are simply happy to have her around. The couple who found Lilith did try to find her real home, but even though they knocked on doors in the area, no one claimed the little darling. (1)

Likely Dropped By A Bird

Molly, who works at the vet’s office, fell in love with the little pink animal. The vet says it’s likely the pig was dropped by a bird. Her tiny pink form would make an easy target for local birds of prey. “We think that she may have been scooped up by a bird of some sort and then dropped,” McGrath said. “Fortunately, her rescuers were at the right place at the right time.” (1)

Lilith The Pet Pig

Molly had always wanted a pet pig and was quick to offer a home for the little aviator. According to the vet, the piglet was a newborn and unlikely to survive. But this didn’t stop Molly from taking her in. (1)

It was not difficult to decide they would take their chances and put their money on the piglet living. “The vet did give her a grave prognosis,” says Molly. “The umbilical cord was still attached, so we weren’t sure if she had received colostrum from the mum yet.” (1)

Colostrum contains antibodies that protect newborns from disease and infection. (1)

Family Cares For Pig From The Sky

“It was literally hour by hour the first few days,” says Molly who took turns with family members to feed the little sweetie. The family farm is home to 20 goats, which provided milk and colostrum to improve Lilith’s odds for survival. (1)

“Luckily, I have a teenager who loves to be up most of the night,” says Molly. “It was really a family event.” (1)

Pig From Sky Welcome

Molly is glad Lilith landed close to her home. Her search to find a pet pig made her the perfect person to take the little pig in. Her research prepared her for the event as if fate had already planned to send Lilith her way. She does worry about someone coming to claim her. “She has grown quite attached to us, and us to her,” McGrath said. (1)

Lilith is not surprisingly a bit adventurous, boldly climbing into the dishwasher to lick up the dinner plates. “You need to stay one step ahead,” says Molly. (1)

The piglet has free range of the home and has a wonderful time with the family pets. Although she likes stepping outside, she is quick to voice her desire for warmth. “She does not like the cold, so she’s squeaking at the door wanting back in pretty quickly,” says Molly. (1)

Lilith is fully potty trained and should grow to be about 60 pounds. Meanwhile, Molly sees a children’s book in Lilith’s future and a new line of soaps in her honor. (1)
