Homemade Kid-Friendly Anti-Flu Smoothie

For anyone living far from the Equator, February can a particularly terrible month.

I’m talking about what the month of February usually means for your overall health and physical wellbeing.

Think about it, last year we had temperatures that actually made the inhospitable planet of Mars look slightly warmer. So far, this year is showing no sign of avoiding last year’s trend so you might have another month of bitter cold.

And to add insult to the injury of Martian freezing temperatures, winter is the prime time for the flu to knock us out for couple of days; depriving us of valuable work hours, school days, or our invaluable time with our loved ones.

At first glance, your options might seem extremely limited. Big pharmaceutical companies will lead you to believe that their flu shots are they only way to go if you do not want to brave the flu yourself.

If just waiting it out in bed surrounded by bags of our snotty Kleenex doesn’t really sound appealing because you have something important to do, taking a flu shot seems mighty tempting.

Or even worse, seeing your own children going through this is heart-wrenching because, although the flu is not really life threatening, seeing your children suffer is something a non-parent will never understand.

However, don’t panic and go looking for the flu shot just yet. Because flu shots have been linked as probable causes to these health issues:

– They can actually lower your child’s overall immune system strength.

– Mercury found in flu shots might possibly be linked as a factor in developing ADHD.

– The flu shot might actually leave your children extremely vulnerable to bronchitis.

– Rampant use of the flu shots might actually contribute to the development of deadlier strains that are resistant to overall treatments.

So what can you do as a responsible parent?

As I discovered on my holistic road to recovery and wellbeing, your diet might hold the key for your family’s overall health.

This is when this smoothie recipe can help your kid’s immune system prepare for the flu season.

Kid-Friendly Anti-Flu Smoothie

Here’s what you’ll need:

– 1 cup of organic kale leaves.

– 1 cup of organic raspberries.

– 1 tablespoon of flax seeds.

– 1 cup of organic pomegranate juice.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Simply place all your ingredients in your blender and make sure your smoothie is mixed thoroughly. Add a touch of water if you, or your children, feel it’s a bit too thick.

Why is it perfect to fight the flu?

Kale is amazing for your immune system because it releases isothiocyanates, a compound that fights microbes almost instantaneously. Besides, it’s also an amazing super food in it’s own right.

Pomegranates on the other hand, are filled with antioxidants that will help your children fight bacterial infections that are so common during these months.

An added bonus is they can potentially help prevent alzheimer’s.

Raspberries are just the icing on the cake because they can help boost your children’s overall cognitive and learning abilities.

Finally, flaxseeds contain the ever-vital omega-3 fatty acids and have powerful immune system boosters in the form of lignans
