Your body is mostly comprised of water. So it is no wonder that drinking water is a cornerstone of good health. It is the easiest and healthiest drink to obtain. While most people are already aware of these facts, you may not realize that the purity of your water could make a major difference to your health.
Instead of drinking tap water, water from a purifier, or bottled water, you might want to learn more about the benefits of drinking ionized water. Not only does it provide numerous health benefits, it is easy to make.
How is Ionized Water Different?
What makes ionized water different from regular water? The water that you normally consume is most likely neutral with a pH level of 7. Ionized water has a higher alkaline level, with a pH level higher than 7.
The pH level of a liquid refers to the hydrogen concentration found in the liquid. A low pH level means that the liquid is more acidic, while more alkaline in a liquid results in a higher pH level.
Since the majority of the food that you consume is likely to add the acidity of your stomach contents, you should think about providing more balance by drinking ionized water.
Why is Ionized Water Healthier?
When your body becomes more acidic, due to the consumption of acidic food, you may notice an increase in fatigue and insomnia. You may also experience lower energy levels, headaches, cramps, and a slower digestive process. The more extreme effects of an acidic diet include obesity and possibly even cancer.
By drinking ionized water, you can provide your body with a better balance and negate some of the effects of an acidic heavy diet. Along with the stabilization of your body’s pH level, ionized water acts as an antioxidant. It can improve your chances of weight loss, keep you hydrated, help prevent kidney stones, and improve oral hygiene.
How to make ionized water?
You can purchase ionized water at most grocery stores. You could also purchase your own ionizers that can be added to your drinking water. While those are both suitable ways of obtaining ionized water, you could also make your own.
Before following either of these two examples of making your own ionized water, check the pH level of your water, whether you drink from the tap or use a water purifier. Purchase pH level strips or a pH level detector.
Make Ionized Water Using Lemons
To make your own ionized water using lemons, take one fresh lemon and cut into several slices. Drop the lemon slices into a 2 liter pitcher of water. Let the water sit at room temperature for 8 to 10 hours and then place in your fridge. You now have ionized water. Adding a pinch or two of sea salt will turn it into mineral water.
Make Ionized Water Using Baking Soda
Another option, instead of using lemons, is to use baking soda. Add 600 milligrams of baking soda to 8 ounces of water. Baking soda contains an abundance of sodium, so make sure that you correctly measure out the 600 milligrams. Stir the contents extremely well, to ensure the baking soda is able to completely dissolve into the water.
Drinking ionized water is healthy, safe, and easy. Use either of these two methods to begin making your own ionized water, so that you can start reaping the rewards of drinking ionized water.
