To the Husband Whose Wife Seems Angry- Here's What You Need to Know

I think a lot of mothers will tell you that raising a family is a superhuman feat. Not only are you responsible for the lives of your children, you’re also usually looking after a husband as well, leaving you barely any time to take care of yourself. And while there are millions of mothers out there experiencing the same thing, it doesn’t get talked about enough. Well, one recent blog post has been talking about just that, and how frustrating it can be to have to be the only one that seems to be taking care of everyone else.

What Your Wife Really Wants You To Know

Jesica Ryzynski is a blogger, wife, and mother of four kids ranging in age from preschool to high school. Recently, she was having one of those bad days as a mom where she was just feeling resentful and angry. Her husband notice and asked what was wrong, and if it was because of him?

“My husband came to me and asked if I was ok, and also mentioned that lately it seemed like I was always angry at him. At first I balked at the suggestion. I wasn’t angry at him. Or was I?”

After taking a few moments to think about it, she realized that she was angry. She was frustrated with the fact that she was constantly the one being turned to when her children had questions or needed something. She was upset that she couldn’t seem to find a moment for herself, even when she’s sitting on the toilet. She was angry that her husband could eat hot food while it was still hot.

“And even though these things were not directly my husband’s fault, he was the only other adult in the house. So I started to think of ways that we might be able to deal with some of these issues and help me to be less angry.”

She wasn’t upset with her husband, but all these daily sacrifices and nuisances that she experiences can just build up and it needs a way to escape. So she came up with some suggestions on how her husband could help and find ways for her (and other moms) get some all-important ‘me time’.

She’s Exhausted

This is the kind of tired that one only gets when they have been playing chef / maid / chauffeur / doctor / entertainer for years. So don’t poke fun at her when she leaves the keys in the fridge for the second time that week.

“She will not be amused. Not at all. Send her for a nap. Take the children out of the house, and preferably off of the property, and let her sleep.”

She’s Probably Sat In Pee Today

“You can’t fix this. Just be aware.”

Enough said.

She’s Running On Fumes

She’s barely had time to eat something, and what she does eat is more for comfort than sustenance. When she doesn’t remember to eat, make sure you do.

“Make her a sandwich, lock her in the bathroom where she usually needs to hide to consume food, and go buy more cookies. She will need them later.”

Better Yet, Treat Her To A Meal All On Her Own

Let her enjoy that hot meal, no matter when it is. But let her enjoy it alone.

“Do not send any of the children with her. No, not even the really well-behaved one. She needs to go alone.”

Let Her Have Her Privacy

One thing we take for granted is being able to use the washroom in peace. Moms don’t get that luxury, so whenever you can, let her go uh – take care of business.

“Lock her in the bathroom. Stand guard.”

The Kids’ Soundtrack Is Getting Old

All day she’s stuck listening to kid shows, kid songs, kid movies, kid stories, the list goes on. There is only so many times a person can be expected to listen (and sing) ‘Let It Go’. So, let her go and blow off some steam to her very own soundtrack.

“Send her out in the family van alone. She needs to blow the speakers out with her own music while entertaining other motorists with her mad singing skills.”

She’s Arguing With Children. All. Day.

From sunrise to sunset, she’s trying to win mental – and physical – battles all over the house, so chances are she doesn’t feel like arguing over 2% milk or skim.

“She is bound to get a bit angry from time to time. So don’t argue. Your best plan of attack here is to just agree with everything she says for about the next eighteen years. Trust me.”

If These Suggestions Don’t Ring Any Bells, Check What You Did

Sometimes, the remembering the smallest things can mean the most and can help you avoid an argument you really don’t want to be having. So whenever you can, double check your work so you aren’t scolded.

“Do not get caught and do not admit to what you have done. Following these steps may save your relationship.”

While the original blog post was meant to be light-hearted, it also delivers an important message. Moms really are superheroes, but even they need to take off the cape from time to time.
