Homemade Winter Hand Scrub

winter hand scrub

winter hand scrubFor anyone living far away from the Equator and currently gazing at the unending accumulation of snow, winter can be especially rough on your skin because cold air sucks up all the moisture and interior heating can make your home extremely dry.

Let’s not even talk about how much your hands can suffer during these horrifyingly cold winter months.

Cosmetic companies are more than happy to capitalize on your situation by offering you pricey solutions that may be loaded with potentially dangerous chemical ingredients like dibutyl phthalate.

But don’t panic just yet! I’ve found the perfect natural hand scrub recipe to keep your hands healthy and happy.

Homemade Winter Hand Scrub

Here’s what you’ll need:

– One inch of ginger, peeled and finely grated (the fresher the better)

– ½ a cup of Epsom salts

– Five tablespoons of organic coconut oil (if you’re allergic, you can use jojoba oil)

– One teaspoon of lemon zest

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Using a medium sized bowl, thoroughly mix all the ingredients. There’s no preferable order so don’t worry about it. Once all is mixed in a uniform paste, you should be good to go; either use it immediately or storing it.

Here’s how you should use it:

Taking a substantial amount of the paste, gently massage your hands. Do not apply too much pressure, allow the Epsom salts to their work. Once your hands are done, start focusing on your cuticles by gently massaging them and making sure you treat the dry areas.

Then simply rinse off the hand scrub with some warm water, dry them off, and you should be good to go with your newly rejuvenated hands!

Alternatively, you can also use this mixture as a wonderful treatment for your feet.

If you have any left over mix you can place it in a sealed container and leave it in the fridge. It should last for about two weeks.

Why is this scrub so amazing?

Ginger, besides being a vital herb to keep your immune system up and running, can be used for anything from nausea medication, helping your digestion, and may even prevent some forms of cancer.

When it comes to your skin, ginger gives it a healthy radiant glow because it’s packed with antioxidants that help reduce toxins while increasing your blood circulation.

Lemon peels are almost as good as the pulp because they soften up rough skin. When you use the zest, you’re basically using the best part of the peel to carefully exfoliate your skin. It may even get rid of small scars.

Finally, Epsom salts enhance this scrub’s exfoliating power even further by gently getting rid of dead skin cells and rejuvenating your hands.

Additionally, you can use the leftover Epsom salts to take baths that can actually help you lose weight naturally.

By incorporating these natural alternatives to popular health and cosmetic products you can greatly reduce the exposure to dangerous and unhealthy chemicals and toxins.

Trust me, you’ll feel as amazing as you look!
