I’m not a big fan of fluoride or the chemicals in mainstream toothpastes and I wasn’t about to let my daughter use them so we had to find another option. Paying big bucks for the all natural stuff wasn’t my first choice so homemade toothpaste was really my only option. I did a wee bit of research and found that coconut oil was my first choice for the base.

Can You Remineralize Your Teeth?
Yes, with proper oral hygiene and a good diet, it is possible. The best part about this recipe is that it contains two ingredients that support bette oral health, and therefore encourage remineralization. The first is coconut oil; as an antimicrobial, it naturally helps keep bad bacteria in check. The second is baking soda, which can help promote a more alkaline pH in the mouth and saliva; a more acidic pH level in the mouth is known to contribute to tooth decay.
