I am a strong believer that turmeric is one of the healthiest and most amazing herbs on earth! Turmeric is found in the Curcuma longa plant and is often used as a spice in traditional curry dishes. It is a beautiful yellow color so it can be used to kick your meal up a notch in taste and looks!
Sometimes even the healthiest of foods are difficult to add into your diet, so as much as I rant and rave about this spice, I also want to teach you how to use it!
Cooking is almost as fun as eating well, and when you love and learn to do both, you’re golden! Speaking of golden, take a look at this incredible turmeric and ginger based tea!
What You’ll Need
– 2 tsp. powdered turmeric
– 1 tsp. shaved organic ginger
– 1 tsp. raw, organic honey
– 1 cup organic almond milk
Warm up your almond milk in a saucepan, on low heat until the milk is a warm temperature. Place your turmeric and ginger in muag or bowl in which you’ll be drinking your tea from and add a tiny bit of your warmed almond milk.
Once these 3 ingredients are in your mug or bowl, stir them together to make a thick, but smooth paste and make sure there are no lumps and clumps!
When your mixture has reached the desired texture then adds the remainder of the almond milk and your teaspoon of raw honey.
Inside just 2 teaspoons of turmeric there is;
– 17% of your daily manganese
– 10% of your daily iron
– 5% of your daily vitamin B6
– 4% of your daily fiber
Perhaps one of the most influential elements of turmeric is its incredible anti-inflammatory strength. Turmeric can be used to decrease the inflammation that causes or is caused by the following;
– Hemorrhage
– Toothaches
– Chest pain
– Psoriasis
– Arthritis
– Bruises and bumps
– Some forms of cancer
The extra boost in this tea comes from the anti bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties found in raw, organic honey as well as the many health benefits of ginger! Ginger is a carminative and intestinal spasmolytic, which means it has the ability to soothe and decrease gas in your intestinal tract.
There are so many reasons why turmeric should be in your diet and to top it off, it is deliciously rich flavor that will spice up any meal you cook.
I love starting or finishing my day with a nice warm turmeric tea, especially when it gets a little chilly outside and you need something to warm your heart and get rid of that annoying chill!
