A Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Caramel Bar Recipe That’ll Melt Your Mouth

gluten dairy free recipesWhen you’re trying to eat healthy there are a lot of things, in specific foods, that you should avoid. Or should you? There’s a way to eat some of the most delicious foods without pumping your body with things it doesn’t need.

The best example of this is caramel bars. Everyone likes caramel bars, and if you don’t you should have one of these because they’ll change your mind. When you think about something like a caramel bar you automatically associate anything that has to do with caramel as being fatty and ultimately not good for your health.

Things have changed, this gluten and dairy free recipe allows for you to enjoy a delicious caramel bar without all the garbage that comes along with regular fatty caramel bars.

Here’s what you will need:

Ingredients

Base

– 1 teaspoon of coconut oil

– 1 cup of dates

– ½ cup of almonds

Caramel

– 1/3 cup of water

– ½ cup of coconut oil

– 1 cup of dates

– 1-½ tablespoons of unhulled tahini

– 1 cup of raw cashews that have been covered and soaked for a hour, then rinsed

– ¼-½ cup of pure organic maple syrup (put as much as you personally like)

Top Chocolate Layer

– ¼ cup of raw cocao powder

– ¼ cup of pure organic maple syrup

– ¼ cup of coconut oil

Method/Directions

Base

Grab your dates, almonds and coconut oil and throw them in a food processor. Process the ingredients until it has the texture of crumbs and sticks together when pressed. Pour the mixture into a slice tin lined with non-toxic greaseproof paper. Press down on the mixture to create a base, then place it in the freezer.

Caramel

Place your dates, coconut oil, tahini, maple syrup, cashews and water into a blender and pulse them until they are all completely combined and very smooth. Add water as you continue to blend in order to smoothen out the mixture. Pour this delicious caramel mixture onto the base you have created and place it back in the freezer.

Chocolate Layer

For this step in the process you are going to do something a little different. Place the coconut oil, maple syrup and cacao into a small saucepan, keep the heat really low and stir. Keep stirring until it is all combined and looks like chocolate sauce, this will take a couple minutes to accomplish.

You then spread the chocolate sauce on top of the caramel base; make sure the caramel has set prior to doing this. Once that is done you can place it back in the freezer for about an hour. After an hour remove it from the freezer and the tin, slice it up as soon as you take it out of the tin, and store the bars in an airtight container in the fridge.

This caramel bar recipe is a great gluten and dairy free recipe, much like hundreds of others that can satisfy your cravings. The best part about this recipe is that it tastes delicious and doesn’t put your body through the ringer.

Share this recipe with your family and friends. Next time you go for a visit bring a platter of gluten and dairy free caramel bars along, trust me they won’t be disappointed.
