Let’s face it, no one ever wants to admit that they were the one to “cut the cheese”, but admitting to your chronic or excessive flatulence– among other symptoms – could save you a lot of time and suffering when dealing with Crohn’s disease.
What is Crohn’s disease?
So, you may ask yourself what is Crohn’s disease? Crohn’s disease is the inflammation of the intestinal tract and bowels, it is usually caused by a change in a person’s species of stomach bacteria, and as a result said person will often experience symptoms such as weight loss, blood glucose abnormalities, and to put it politely red diarrhea. But there’s good news everyone!
The Fix
By making some small dietary changes you can treat, or better yet, prevent Crohn’s disease! As the study conducted by Georgia State University microbiologist Benoit Chasseing shows, emulsifiers used in foods to extend shelf life often contribute to the development of Crohn’s disease. The emulsifiers are found in processed foods such as ice cream, margarine, and packaged bread.
What to Cut
Thanks to the work done by Mr. Chasseing we know the two specific emulsifiers – polysorbate 80 and carboxymethylcellulose – that can be linked to Crohn’s disease. Now that we have got your mind armed with this knowledge it will help you make you a bit healthier by going with these tasty alternatives.
1. Cut Out the Sugar
The first and by far the most important change you must make to diet is cutting out refined and processed sugar. Not only do refined a processed sugars contribute to Crohn’s disease; it is also the leading cause of diabetes and obesity. So instead of a pinch of sugar and spice why not try some organic honey and spice.
2. Promote Peace in Your Pancreas
Instead of reaching for the margarine when making your favorite dish, try swapping out the soy rich product for extra virgin olive oil. Not only does the switch to olive oil cut out harmful GMO’s found in soy products, it is also packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K.
3. You don’t have to give up frozen delights
Yes, we all scream for ice-cream but, we will scream much louder thanks to abdominal cramps. To avoid such octave’s we suggest replacing Ben and Jerry’s, with some fresh organic frozen orange and cherries. By freezing these fruit juices you can make yourself a cheap, healthy and tasty frozen snack for the approaching summer months.
4. Bread isn’t the only carb
We get it, not only is bread delicious for so long we have been told it’s nutritious, but the truth is bread – especially packaged bread – is often made with processed sugars, processed flower and many other unhealthy ingredients.
The next time you’re out grabbing some nutritious fuel reach for an organic sweet potato instead of a loaf of white bread, and increase your levels of iron, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and potassium all in one delicious bite.
