Remove Facial Scars With These 5 Home Remedies

Facial Scars

Facial Scars

A scar can be unsightly, embarrassing, and a constant reminder of something bad that happened. If you’ve got a scar on your face, you definitely already know this. Scars don’t typically hurt, and there is really nothing wrong with them, but they can have a negative impact on you.

Facial scars in particular are often associated with shame or self-consciousness. It’s not true that people are constantly looking at your scar, but that’s how you feel. Some scars fade faster than other, but most are there for life.

There are a number of scar-removal creams that you can buy in the store. These chemical-laden products cost a pretty penny and may not even work. Instead of using these creams and tincture, try a homemade version instead.

Here are 5 tricks to getting rid of facial scars the holistic, homemade way.

Hazelnut Oil

Hazelnut oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that is in a lot of creams and lotions, particularly facial creams, because of its preserving properties. Hazelnut oil, rich in fatty acids and vitamin E (more on that later), works well at reducing scar tissue and lightening skin darkened due to scarring.

Get yourself some natural hazelnut oil and apply to the scar daily. The best time to do this is right before bed, allowing the oil to activate overnight.

Aloe Vera

You may think this is an obvious one: you already use aloe on sunburns and dry skin, but aloe vera can help reduce the appearance of scars as well. Use the natural gel from the plant, and apply directly on your scar. Aloe helps lock in moisture, and rejuvenate skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is useful in a number of different ways, but is essential for skin health. It is an antioxidant that protects your skin and lessens the effects of UV rays. You can find vitamin E in a ton of healthy foods, but the best way to use vitamin E to help reduce facial scars is by popping a capsule with a pin, and putting the liquid right onto your scar.

Lemon Juice

Another great antioxidant that is great for your skin, lemons reduce scars and can ever lighten dark marks in your skin. Drinking lemon juice will help interior scar tissue, while cutting a lemon and applying it to your scar 20 minutes before your morning shower will help remove your scar.

Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV is great for your skin because it moisturizes, retains moisture, and rejuvenate your skin. Simply dab a cotton ball or cotton bud in the apple cider vinegar and apply it directly to your scarred skin. Sometimes the skin on your face is too sensitive for ACV, so you can just mix one part ACV with 2 parts water. This will help lighten dark spots left by the scar as well.

These remedies are for light scarring; if you’ve got a deeper, more serious scar, consult you doctor.
