Improve Your Bone Strength With this Calcium Supplement Recipe

egg calcium

When it comes to nutrient packed foods, you would be hard pressed (or  boiled) to find a better food than eggs. Not only are eggs full of protein, they are also full of essential vitamins ranging from vitamin A to omega 3. Yet, many toss away an important and nutritious part of the egg thinking it to be no better than trash.

What follows below will show you how to convert your  ‘useless’ eggshells into bone improving health optimizing vitamins at home.

Why Should I Care About Egg Shells?

You might ask yourself: why should I care about egg shells? Well, other than protecting the delicious yolk and whites of the egg, egg shells are perfect protectors of human bone health. Egg shells are full of the important mineral known as calcium. Although calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body it is also a mineral that is constantly used by the human body.

This means that it can quickly be depleted if not properly replenished. Although dairy products such as yogurt and cheese are high in calcium, they alone are not enough. So, how can you improve your calcium intake without wasting money on supplements, or more dairy then you can possibly eat?

Well, one great option is to make your own calcium pills at home with ingredients you probably already have.

Ingredients.

Your first ingredient is 1 carton of organic chicken eggs, which are a must have in your home for many other health reasons.  Paying the extra dollars will pay off much faster than you might think. Since the egg shells will provide you with a supplement and are much cheaper than buying calcium tablets, Organic chicken eggs are a must.

If you are confused as to how you can find out what brand of eggs are the best quality for this recipe. A simple trick for testing the quality of your batch of eggs is to simply crack open a few of them.

By cracking open the egg you will be able to determine the shell’s thickness. This will tell you how much calcium is potentially in that egg shell. Remember, the thicker the shell, the more calcium it holds.

You will also need 1 large pot, one powerful coffee grinder (if you do not own a coffee grinder a blender will work just as well.) and one clean mason jar.

Directions.

Use your organic chicken eggs to prepare food as you normally would but remember to save the shells. Once you have used all 12 eggs clean out the shells with warm water. Next, Fill your pot with about 6 cups of water and bring it to a boil.

Once the water begins to boil slowly add in your cleaned egg shells and allow them to cook for

10 minutes. This cooking process will help eliminate any pathogens that may have clung to the egg shells surface.

Once the cooking process is complete, drain the water and allow the shells to dry and cool overnight. Once the shells are dry, place them into an oven set at 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 degrees Celsius) for 10 minutes.

Once the shells have been completely dehydrated place them into a coffee grinder or blender and grind until you achieve a powder like consistency.  To preserve this powder store it in a tightly sealed mason jar.

This homemade calcium powder can be consumed with almost any food or simply mixed into water. For best results consume no more than 1 tsb of this powder a day as overconsumption can irritate a sensitive digestive system.

Note: while taking calcium will support bone health you also need a healthy dose of magnesium and vitamin K2 for best results.
