Your Dog Is Practically Begging You For These Fruits and Vegetables

Previously, we’ve talked about how a popular brand of dog food could be extremely dangerous to your pet’s health and how some of our habits can potentially do them harm.

Today I’d like to start on a positive note on how our pets can also benefit from incorporating healthy fruits and veggies into their diet.

The only negative side effect from these fruits and vegetables on your dog’s health is that their digestive system will improve so drastically that you won’t be able to blame them for any flatulence.

7 Fruits and Vegetables Your Dog Will Love

1. Pumpkin

Unlike us, our dogs do not limit their desire to eat for only one season. Besides driving them to lick and eat every tiny morsel of it, pumpkin actually works wonders for their digestion.

If you’re noticing your dog is going through a horrible bout of constipation or diarrhea, you definitely want to feed them some pumpkin.

I recommend feeding them baked pumpkin slices or, if you’re severely timed constrained, organic canned pumpkin.

2. Green Beans

I consider this to be a dog’s alternative to their snacks between meals. Its crunchy texture and low calorie index will make sure you don’t spoil their appetite and eating habits when you’re rewarding them for amazing behavior.

Green beans also pack enough fiber to fine tune your dog’s digestive system.

3. Spinach

The most valuable thing spinach brings to your pet’s health is a hefty amount of flavonoids and carotenoids to their diet. Both these compounds are amazing at preventing cancer and inflammation, something that torments your pets as they reach old age.

Additionally, spinach can also help your dog’s bones by delivering the ideal dose of iron and calcium.

Now the tricky part: to spinach to your dog you need to steam it, cut it up, and mix it with their dog food.

4. Apples

They same adage for humans applies for man’s best friend. Why? Because apples are loaded with enough antioxidants to supercharge your pet’s immune system. Few things are more heart breaking than a sick puppy, and apples will definitely help them prevent illnesses.

The best thing is that dogs absolutely go crazy for the sweet taste of apples. Just make sure you remove the core because apple seeds can wreak havoc to their intestinal system.

5. Carrots

Carrots are the perfect natural replacements for the costly dog treats that promise to promote better oral pet care. Besides naturally polishing their teeth, these veggies to help your pet lose any excess weight.

6. Watermelon

This fruit will come extra handy in a couple of months when our pets may be too hot under the summer glare. Watermelons are the perfect hydration solution for any dog on a hot summer day.

Watermelons pack a significant amount of antioxidant lycopene to help fight the effects of aging in your pooch.

7. Cantaloupe

Cataracts are one of the biggest threats to your dog’s health as it gets closer to old age. Fortunately, cantaloupes carry enough beta-carotene to potentially help your dog prevent and decrease cataract growth.

Additionally, this fruit is easy to digest and it’s packed with vitamins.

It never ceases to amaze me how similar we are to our pets. Both us need a healthy and holistic diet to drastically improve our quality of life.
