Cannabis Gum: Would You Try Chewing Your Way To Pain Relief?

Though marijuana is still listed as a controlled substance under US Federal Law, it has enjoyed something of a spike in popularity over the last several years. Sure, it has always been popular… the reefer has forever been a hit at parties and has legions of adoring fans the world over. But let’s face it: most of those adoring fans have long had a certain stigma attached to them. The Stoner Stigma. Until recently, you either did it behind closed doors and maintained your dignity, or you were known to partake of the Devil’s Lettuce and were, therefore, snubbed on some level.

But marijuana, also known as cannabis, is a lot more than just a plant that can get you high. It offers a great deal of value for certain people. It raises their quality of life while lowering their physical or mental discomfort. Some states in the US now offer medical marijuana as a possible treatment for a growing list of conditions, including:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Cancer
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Glaucoma
  • Multiple sclerosis and muscle spasms
  • Severe and chronic pain
  • Severe nausea

The list of ways that marijuana can help just continues to grow and grow. In fact, as the coronavirus epidemic rages on into the summer of 2020, scientists have been looking to cannabis as a possible treatment for COVID-19. (1,2)

Puff Puff Pass: Cannabis Gum For Smoke-Free Enjoyment

As evidence of cannabis’ benefits continues to grow, new ways it can be utilized are coming to the fore. In the past, the method of delivery was simply to smoke it. But these days as the practice of using cannabis as a health treatment becomes more mainstream, alternative methods are gaining traction. Smoking has become something of an outdated thing, as edibles, vapes, and even cannabis gum make their way onto the scene. (3)

As the popularity of cannabis continues to gain steam, more and more research is being done around its various applications and benefits. In just the last few decades, we’ve come upon a whole world of information, with more coming in all the time. One important thing to understand about the use of cannabis as a treatment is that it doesn’t have to get you high. Depending on the condition or ailment you are working with, it may not be optimal to use a product that has THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) in it, which is the substance that gets you high.

This is one amazing way that all these new products, like the gum, are making a big impact in the world of cannabis. No longer does the use of “weed” have to be synonymous with the unkempt, stoned, anti-social guy in the corner. No longer does it mean that in order to gain relief from your pain, you’re tied to the couch. There are so many benefits to this incredible plant. Now those benefits are available to anyone who might stand to gain from the use of cannabis: better mobility, less pain, and quieter anxiety, to name just a few. You can choose your gum with or without THC, and target your healing exactly as it should be.

What a time to be alive! It’s going to keep getting better, as we learn more about this plant and how it interacts with our bodies. So, what about you? Would you chew your way to relief with cannabis gum?
