A Homemade Chocolate Banana Shake You Can’t Even Get at Restaurants

At Healthy Holistic Living, we search the web for great health content to share with you. This article is shared with permission from our friends at LiveLoveFruit.com

Nourish your body, mind, and soul with this citrus spiced chocolate smoothie. It tastes like dessert but provides the body with a host of benefits like cancer prevention, reduced LDL cholesterol, improved immune system and better circulation.

You can enjoy this smoothie as a way to energize your mornings, or you can enjoy it for dessert as a substitute for less healthy desserts on the market. It is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and crucial phytonutrients, and tastes like a thick, creamy, chocolate malt with a bit of edge. I guarantee you’ll love it!

You can either choose to add cacao, or carob – cacao is slightly stimulating, so if you don’t like that effect on your body, then I suggest to go with carob.

Super Smoothie

  • 2 ripe frozen bananas
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon maca powder

  • 2 teaspoons orange zest (use organic non-waxed oranges for this)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup coconut water or regular filtered water

Directions

  1. Stick all of the above ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth.
  2. Top with some cacao nibs and citrus zest if you please!
