You might not know it, but you need to show your liver more love whenever you can.
Why?
Because your liver is the sole organ responsible for detoxing your entire body. Whenever someone is promoting a detoxing product or treatment all they’re really offering are ways to help your liver carry on its lifelong function.
You only have one liver, so you definitely need to take extra care of it. But how? Well, I recommend altering your diet to make sure it has the right foods to supercharge your liver.
For example, for the next workday, why don’t you try the following recipe specifically designed to show your liver some love instead of opting out for a take out meal?
Avocado Citrus Salad
Here’s what you’ll need for both the salad and vinaigrette:
– Two organic grapefruits
– One organic avocado
– Five cups of washed organic arugula
– Half a cup of chopped raw walnuts
– One clove of finely minced garlic
– Pink Himalayan salt and freshly ground pepper
– One tablespoon of lemon juice
– Two tablespoons of unrefined flaxseed oil
– One teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
– One tablespoon of raw organic honey
– Two tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Let’s start with the grapefruits. Peel one grapefruit and separate into slices. Make sure to remove the skin and white pith. As for the second grapefruit, slice it in half and squeeze its juice into container with a lid.
Cut the avocado in half, remove its large seed, and cut it into thin slices.
In a large bowl, place the arugula, the avocado slices, the walnuts, and the grapefruit slices. Mix them thoroughly.
Now it’s time to make the vinaigrette. Pour the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, flaxseed oil, olive oil, and raw organic honey into the container holding the grapefruit juice. Add the minced garlic, pink Himalayan salt, and pepper.
Close the lid and shake it thoroughly.
Pour the vinaigrette dressing into the salad bowl and mix it up!
You should have just enough for about two servings.
Why is this salad good for your liver?
Avocados are packed with a compound known as glutathione, which helps your liver extract toxins with increased efficiency.
Like avocadoes, grapefruits also pack glutathione. But wait there’s more! Grapefruits also have a healthy dose of antioxidants and vitamin C that help produce enzymes that encourage your body to get rid of toxins and even certain carcinogens.
Walnuts are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, and (yes!) glutathione that help your body get rid of excess ammonia.
By making your own food you’re effectively taking control of what goes into your diet.
More importantly, you’ll be able to avoid any of the dangerous chemicals and ingredients found in most processed foods or meals from the fast food industry.
