8 Signs That You Have A Strong Personality That Might Intimidate Some People

By Abbey Ryan

Have you ever been called arrogant, dominate, or rude? Do you have strong opinions most of the time and are you willing to argue for them? Do you always seem to even offend people by your conversations?

Sometimes people with powerful personalities can come across as intimidating to others, especially to people who are quieter and more insecure. Some people simply cannot comprehend how to maintain a confident personality and still be sociable (1).

8 Signs you have a strong personality

Some people have strong personalities from birth, while others have to learn confidence, and others never learn at all. There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong scenario as long as you are able to be mindful of other’s and communicate properly.  Without good communication skills, you can easily come off as intimidating to those around you. Here are eight signs that mean you could be intimidating to others:

You Know Your Own Mind and Aren’t Easily Swayed (3).

Perhaps you are opinionated and convincing, but you aren’t arrogant. You like discussing significant matters with other people competent in the issue. While you thoroughly enjoy convincing people to adopt your way of thinking, you are in no way offended or disappointed if people maintain their own beliefs.

You Do Not Try to Please Everyone or Seek for Their Attention/Approval (1)

You don’t waste your time trying to impress the crowds, since you’re way too preoccupied working towards your own goals. You accept yourself as you are and don’t bother hiding your natural personality. You respect others without undermining yourself. You don’t need compliments or praise because you are firmly grounded and consequently emit determination and self-confidence.

You Admit Your Mistakes (1).

You would never consider yourself to be a perfect person. Because of this, you are well aware of your strengths and weaknesses, and you are not stubborn or immature when it comes to mistakes you’ve made. You are willing to apologize and accept responsibility for your mistakes.

You are Decisive, Lead by Reason Over Emotion (3).

Obviously, you weigh your options and consider the consequences of your actions, but you don’t get caught up with anxiety, paralysis, or analysis. Your mind and instinct are both trusted to find the correct, rational decision and it’s better to be bold and take action than waiting around for life to happen or someone else to make the decision.

You Don’t Accept Excuses (4)

You are a hard worker with high standards, so when someone comes to you with an excuse, you don’t accept it. You don’t waste your time with whining or complaining, but rather focus on the best ways to solve the issue. You push yourself to be better and have very little grace to offer people who have constant excuses for their lack of productivity or bad behavior. A solution is always within the reach of hard work and excuses are simply a waste of time.

You Don’t Care for Small Talk (1)

A conversation about the weather is maddening to you. You would much rather dig into a real, meaningful conversation about problems, solutions, the unknown, feelings, or the universe. You like real conversations. You like challenging your intelligence. You like learning from talking with others and not wasting your breath.

You Create Your Own Opportunities (4)

Some people sit around and wait for their raises and promotions, for a chance to travel the world and for opportunities to fall in their laps. You set goals, chase after them, and meet them. You understand that learning, growing, and progresses takes constant work, risk, and determination—things you are willing to strive for. You embrace change and refuse complacency. While you may have your own insecurities, you refuse to let them rule you.

You Stick to Your Morals (3)

You know what you believe is right, what you stand for, and what you support. You are passionate about your beliefs and morals, and peer pressure won’t convince you to violate them. You aren’t afraid of sticking to your morals even when others think you shouldn’t.

Conclusion

While people may be afraid of your confidence, opinions, and goals, you should never let that deter you from reaching new heights and having good conversation. It is important to learn how to interact with all kinds of people, with different personalities. But you also must find your tribe; find those who support you being authentic. Never feel like you need to tone yourself down to please others.
