Oil PullingI recently wrote an article on Oil Pulling called Should We Pull Oil? in the article, I outline the method of oil pulling you should use as well as a few do’s and don’ts. You may want to read that article first before you continue reading this page. I set a goal to try oil pulling for 30 days below are my results.
Oil pulling, a method of taking one tablespoon of sesame oil and swishing it in your mouth for 20 minutes was developed by Dr. Karach and presented in a paper claiming oil pulling will cure “head-aches, bronchitis, tooth pain, thrombosis, eczema, ulcers and diseases of stomach, intestines, heart, blood, kidney, liver, lungs and women’s diseases. It heals diseases of nerves, paralysis, and encephalitis. It prevents the growth of malignant tumors, cuts and heals them. Chronic sleeplessness is cured” Oil pulling is supposed to cure almost anything, which I don’t necessarily agree with, but what I do think is that oil pulling is a natural means of detoxifying the body which in today’s world we all need. My Experience:
I picked up some organic cold pressed sesame oil Yuck, oil pulling is not for the faint at heart! Your first instinct is to spit the oil right back out of your mouth. I resisted and made it through the whole 20 minutes. The oil turned foamy white and my mouth was full of, well for lack of a better word spit.
I started to notice that I was experiencing chronic headaches as well as a worsening of the symptoms associated with my disorder. I generally felt fatigued and my chest felt very heavy. This feeling never left me. I pulled oil for 3 weeks then gave up. I felt like I had a severe chest cold and with all the other symptoms popping up I thought I should stop for a couple of days. After about 3-4 days, I began to feel like my old self again. According to Dr. Karach, “A worsening of symptoms is an excellent indication that the disease/ailment is being cured. Do not stop Oil Pulling if you feel aggravated symptoms or slightly heightened side effects. Your body is healing. It is important to understand that during the oil-pulling/swishing process your metabolism is intensi-fied, which can lead to improved health.” OK so basically I woosed out! I have tried various detoxification methods in the last 5 years and each time I get so ill that I cannot sustain the method. The longest detoxification technique that I tried was for 6 months and trust me I won’t be doing that again. But, I am dedicated to trying to detoxify my body and allowing myself to fully heal so I will be revisiting this issue. Would I do it again? Absolutely, I think I will start next week and do it every other day for a week and then everyday. We will see how long I can last this time!
